In an FCC, the cyclones in the reactor separates the catalyst suspended in the FCC product so the catalyst can be sent to the regenerator section where the coke on it can be burned off.

There are also cyclones at the top of the regenerator section in order to separate the regenerated catalyst from the off-gases, CO plus CO2, so that the regenerated catalyst can be returned to the reactor
