Akpo (crude)

Akpo is a  a light sweet crude oil grade from Nigeria

It is produced from the Akpo field in ultra-deep water off the coast of Nigeria, about 124 miles from Port Harcourt.   The field is operated by Total and owned by Total, CNOOC, Petrobras, NNPC, ad Satpetro

Cargoes are loaded from the Akpo FPSO and mover to refiners n Europe, the East Coast of North America, and to Asia

Spot prices are reported by both Platts and Argus, for 950,000-1,000,000 bbl cargoes, FOB at the Akpo FPSO.  There is also an official formula price posted by NNPC

Quality

Akpo is a light crude with very low sulfur, preferred by refineries with limited hydrotreating capacity and no bottoms conversion
