Canton is a medium-sized medium-complexity refinery located 60 miles southeast of Cleveland in Canton, Ohio, in the US.

The refinery is 100% owned and operated by Marathon Petroleum.

The refinery primarily processes light crude oil.

Refinery history

1931 - Built by Allegheny Arrow

1948 - Acquired by Ashland

1998 - Marathon and Ashland merged operations as Marathon Ashland

2005 - Marathon acquired full control

2009 - Kerosene hydrotreater added

2011 - Downstream business separated as Marathon Petroleum

2015 - Condensate splitter added (25 kbpd). $250MM project.
