Isla is a large, low complexity refinery on the Island of Curacao off the coast of Venezuela

The refinery is owned by the government through the state company RdK, which is in negotiatins with CORC to operate the plant

Refinery history

1918 - Refinery commissioned by Shell

1985 - Refinery sold to Curacao government and leased to PDVSA to operate

2019 - PDVSA lease was not renewed and control of refinery reverted to RdK and ceased operations

2024 - RdK agreement with Global Oil to restart the refinery for asphalt production
