Egina (crude)

Egina  is a heavy, sweet crude grade produced in Nigeria

It is produced from the Egina field in deep water off the Nigerian coast.  The field is operated by Total and owned by Total, CNOOC, NNPC, Satpetro, and Petrobras

Crude is loaded onto vessels from teh Egina FPSO and moves to refiners in Europe and Asia

Spot prices are reported by both Platts and Argus, for 950,000-1,000,000 bbl cargoes, FOB at the Egina FPSO. There is also an official formula price posted by NNPC

Quality

Egina is a sweet crude, which makes it popular with refiners with limited hydrotreating capacity and high production of low-sulfur fuel oil.  Egina is heavy, but with a large middle distillate cut.
