1988 - China National Petroleum Company established and taking over most of the upstream petroleum assets of the Ministry of Petroleum

1996 - Dalian West Pacific refinery commissioned in JV with Sinochem and Total

1998 - CNPC reorganized and launched Petrochina as a joint stock subsidiary

2009 - Dushanzi refinery expansion commissioned

2010 - Qinzhou refinery commissioned

2010 - Qingyang refinery relocation and upgrade commissioned

2011 - Ndajamena refinery (Chad) commissioned

2012 - Hohhot refinery expansion and upgrade commissioned

2016 - Pengzhou refinery commissioned
