Bayernoil refinery

Bayernoil is a large, medium complexity refinery complex in north of Munich, Germany.
The refinery was formed by integrating three different plants, and ultimately shutting down one (Ingolstadt), leaving a two sites operating as an integrated plant (Vohburg and Neustadt).
The refinery is owned and operated by a partnership between Vitol (51.43% through its Varo subsidiary), Rosneft (28.57%, and Eni (20%).
In 2022 the German government assumed control of Rosneft interest in its 3 German refineries as part of sanctions on Russia over Ukraine, and has ordered Rosneft to divest by March 2025.
The refinery receives crude from Trieste on the Transalpine pipeline.
Product is distributed across the Bavaria region.

Refinery history
1964 - Neustadt refinery commissioned as Erdölraffinerie Neustadt (ERN)
1965 - Ingolstadt refinery commissioned by Eni as Erdölraffinerie Ingolstadt (ERIAG)
1967 - Vohburg refinery commissioned by BP
1970 - Bitumen plant added at Neustadt
1972 - Veba acquires 50% of ERIAG from Eni
1979 - BP acquires Veba shares in ERIAG
1985 - Ingolstadt and Vohburg plants are connected
1989 - Ingolstadt and Vohburg merged into Raffineriegesellschaft Vohburg/Ingolstadt (RVI)
1998 - three plants combined to form Bayernoil
2003 - Change in ownership structure to OMV (45%) ROG (25%) AGIP (25%) BP (10%)
2008 - Ingolstadt site is closed
2014 - Change in ownership shares to: Varo (45%) RuhrOel (25%) Eni (20%) Bp (10%)
2020 - Change in ownership shares to: Varo (51.4%) Rosneft (28.6%) Eni (20%)
2022 - The German government assumed control of Rosneft interests in its 3 German refineries.
