BOB

Also known as:

Before oxygenate blending

A BOB is an unfinished (intermediate) gasoline blend that only lacks the addition of the predetermined volume of ethanol to be finished gasoline.

BOBs are widely traded (rather than finished blends) because of the challenges of moving blends that already contain ethanol.

Common example of BOBs are:

CBOB - A BOB that will result in conventional, regular grade gasoline when blended with 10% ethanol

RBOB - A BOB that will result in reformulated, regular grade gasoline when blended with 10% ethanol

CARBOB - A BOB that will result in CARB grade, regular grade gasoline when blended with 10% ethanol
