Commerce City is a medium sized, high conversion refinery comprised of two integrated sites (East Plant and West Plant) located outside of Denver in Commerce City, Colorado in the US.

The refinery is 100% owned and operated by Suncor.

The refinery runs local crude from the Denver-Julesberg basin

Product are primarily sold in the local Denver market

Refinery history

1930 - West plant built by Continental Oil

1997 - East plant acquired by Ultramar Diamond Shamrock as part of Total

2002 - East plant acquired by Valero as part of Ultramar Diamond Shamrock 

2003 - West site acquired by Sunoco from Conoco Phillips

2005 - East site acquired by Sunoco from Valero

2006 - Kerosene hydrotreater and hydrogen plant added
