Current and recent refinery transactions ordered by expected or completed date of deal closure:
2025 - Schwedt, Bayernoil, Karlsruhe (Germany) - Rosneft has been ordered by the German Government to divest its interests in German refineries by March 2025.
2025 - Lemont, Lake Charles and Corpus Christi (US) - Amber Energy (Elliott Investments) bid accepted in CITGO asset auction. Elliott bid $7.3B. Deal will close in 2025 but likely subject to numerous appeals and challenges.
2024 - Fos Sur Mer (France) - ExxonMobil sold the refinery to Rhone Energies (Trafigura and Entara)
2024 - Bukom (Singapore) - Shell has agreed to seel the refinery to CAPGC (a JV between Glencore and Chandra Asri)
2024 - Burgas (Bulgaria) - Lukoil is looking for potential buyers for the refinery due to EU sanctions
2024 - Schwedt (Germany) Shell agreed to sell its 37.5% stake in Schwedt to Prax.
2024 - Saras (Italy) - Vitol acquired a controlling interest in the refinery and took it private
2024 - Sasolburg (South Africa) - Total sod its 36% interest in Sasolburg (South Africa) to Prax
2023 - Miro (Germany) - ExxonMobil sold its 25% stake in the Miro (Karlsruhe) refinery to Liwathon.
2023 - Karachi (Pakistan) - Cnergyico acquired 91% stake in the Byco refinery in Karachi
2023 - Fujairah refinery - UNIPER sold the refinery and bunkering business to Montfort Group
2023 - SARPOM (Italy) - ExxonMobil sold its 75% stake in the refinery to Italiana Petroli
2023 - Priolo (Italy) - Lukoil sold the refinery to GOI Energy
2023 - Vadinar (India) - Trafigura sold its 25% stake in the Nayara refinery in India to Hara
2023 - Sriracha (Thailand) - ExxonMobil sold its 66% stake in Esso Thailand (including the refinery) to Bangchak
2023 - Billings (US) - ExxonMobil sold the refinery to Par Pacific for $310Million plus inventory.
2023 - Toledo (US) - Cenovus acquired BP's 50% stake in the refinery for $300M plus value of inventory. Deal closed in March of 2023.
2023 - Zhoushan (China) - Aramco acquired a 10% interest in Rongsheng Petrochemical, which has a 51% interest in Zhejiang Petroleum and Chemical (ZPC) which owns the refinery
2022 - Eagle Springs (US) - Sky Quarry acquired Foreland Energy, including the refinery.
2022 - Haifa (Israel) - Israel Petrochemicals acquired Bazan, including the refinery
2022 - Saraland (US) - Shell sold the refinery to Vertex for $75M plus value of inventory. Vertex will convert the plant to renewable diesel
2022 - REMAN (Brazil) - Petrobras sold the refinery to Atem for $257 million.
2022 - Fergana (Uzbekistan) - The Uzbek Government sold of the Fergana refinery to private company Sanoat Energetika Guruhi for $100 million
2022 - Gdansk (Poland) - PKN acquired controlling interest in Grupa Lotos and then sold 30% stake of refinery to Aramco
2021 - Kalundborg (Demark) - Equinor sold the Kalundborg refinery to Klesch for $428M
2021 - Schwedt (Germany) - Rosneft agreed to acquire Shell's interest in the Schwedt refinery. Deal currently delayed by the Ukraine crisis
2021 - Wyoming and Casper (US) - Sinclair agreed to sell both refineries to HollyFrontier
2021 - Puma - Trafigura announced agreement to purchase Sonangol's 37% interest in Puma
2021 - Bayernoil (Germany) - Carlyle agreed to acquire the stake of Reggeborgh in Varo.
2021 - RLAM (Brazil) - Petrobras sold the refinery to Mubadala Capital for $1.8B
2021 - Refidomsa (Domincan Republic) - PDVSA sold interest in Refidomsa refinery to government of Dominican Republic
