McPherson refinery

The McPherson refinery is a small, high conversion refinery located in McPherson, Kansas in the US.

The refinery is 100% owned and operated by the farmers' cooperative CHS (Cenex Harvest States).

Refinery history

1933 - Built by Globe oil

1943 - Acquired by National Coop Refining

2006 - Hydrocracker and hydrogen plant added

2015 - CHS buys out minority shareholders to become sole owner

2017 - Project to replace old coker (22 kbpd) with new coker (32 kbpd) and expand distillation (13 kbpd) to provide more coker feed.  Total project cost of $882MM.
