1899 - Shell Transport and Trading commissions refinery in Balikpapan

1907 - Royal Dutch Shell group formed

1930 - Plaju refinery commissioned by Shell

1957 - Dutch assets in petroleum sector nationalized to form Permina (later Pertamina)

1965 - Shell assets sold to Pertamina

1974 - Cilacap refinery commissioned

1994 - Balongan refinery commissioned
