Flint Hills's Corpus Christi refinery is a very large, medium complexity refinery comprised of two sites (West Plant and East Plant) located along the ship channel in Corpus Christi, Texas in the US.

The refinery is 100% owned and operated by Flint Hills (a subsidiary of Koch Industries).

Refinery history

1952 - West Plant built by Suntide (subsidiary of Sunray Oil)

1968 - West Plant acquired by Sun when merged with Sunray Oil

1974 - East Plant acquired by Kerr McGee from Southwestern Oil

1981 - West Plant acquired by Koch Industries from Sun and Gulf States

1981 - Acquired adjoining Gulf States refinery

1995 - Acquires East Plant from Kerr McGee

2002 - Company renamed Flint Hills

2013 - FCC gasoline hydrotreater capacity increased

2017 - Addition of crude pre-flash unit to expand distillation capacity (20 kbpd) at West Plant. $600MM project.

2018 - VGO hydrotreater converted to distillate hydrotreater
