Sarroch is a very large, medium complexity refinery located on the island of Sardinia in Italy.

The refinery is owned and operated by Vitol.

Refinery history

1965 - Refinery commissioned as a topping plant

1969 - Added second topping unit, vacuum and FCC

1974 - Added third topping unit RT2

1983 - Added visbreaker, second vacuum unit, and reformer (CCR)

1992 - Added mild hydrocracker

2001 - Added second mild hydrocracker, IGCC, and TAME unit

2008 - Added sulfur TGU and FCC gasoline hydrotreater

2015 - Added second reformer and BTX

2024 - Moratti family has agreed to sold its 35% stake in Saras to Vitol. Vitol acquired full ownership and delisted the company from the Milan stock exchange
