Fawley is a large, complex refinery located on the South coast of the United Kingdom near South Hampton.

The refinery is owned and operated by ExxonMobil.

Refinery history

1921 - Refinery built by Atlantic, Gulf, and West Indies Oil Company

1923 - Acquired by British-Mexican Petroleum

1925 - Acquired by Anglo-American Oil (Esso)

1951- Refinery rebuilt and expanded

1958 - Chemical plant commissioned

2025 - Planned addition of new diesel hydrotreater (38 kbpd) and hydrogen plant at cost of $1b
