Calciner
A calciner is a plant that treats raw or green coke from a coker to produce coke suitable for anode manufacture.
The calciner is a rotary kiln that uses heat to drive out volatile compounds.
The resulting calcined coke is then sent to an anode baking oven to create anodes for use in the steel and aluminum manufacturing industries.
Some refiners have calciners to process their own coke, but many calciners are stand alone operations that buy green coke from a number of different refineries.
