Refining history

1940 - Cheyenne refinery built by Frontier Refining

1969 - Holly acquired Navajo refinery from Continental

1989 - Holly acquired Lovington plant from Southern Union and put back into service

1991 - Wainoco acquired Frontier and changed name to Frontier Oil

1999 - El Dorado refinery acquired by Frontier

2003 - Woods Cross refinery acquired by Holly

2009 - Sinclair Tulsa refinery acquired by Holly

2009 - Sunoco Tulsa refinery acquired by Holly

2011 - Holly merged with Frontier to form HollyFrontier

2020 - Refinery operations stop at Cheyenne and conversion to renewable diesel begins.

2021 - HollyFrontier acquired the Puget Sound refinery from Shell

2021 - HollyFrontier announces plan to acquire refinery business of Sinclair (Wyoming and Casper refineries)

2022 - Sinclair acquired by HollyFrontier and name changed to HF Sinclair
